KIDS FIRST

KIDS FIRST — PERSONAL SAFETY TRAINING FOR KIDS

Kids face different safety challenges at school, at home, and in public places. Knowing how to recognize potential danger, pay attention to their surroundings, and make informed decisions can help them respond more thoughtfully when situations become difficult.

KIDS FIRST is designed to give young people practical safety knowledge they can use in everyday life and during emergencies. Through engaging video lessons, children learn to recognize warning signs, consider their options, and understand what to do when they or someone else may be in danger.

The goal is to help children build awareness, develop safer habits, and become better prepared to handle challenging situations.

WHAT THEY WILL LEARN

  • Situational and Observational Awareness: Pay attention to surroundings, notice changes, and recognize potential warning signs.

  • Recognizing and Avoiding Danger: Understand how risks can appear in different environments and consider safer choices.

  • Safety in Public Places: Be aware of surroundings, recognize available exits, and think ahead when visiting unfamiliar places.

  • Active Threat Preparedness: Learn age-appropriate response considerations for an active threat, including when to move away, seek safety, or take other appropriate action.

  • Emergency Response and Getting Help: Understand the role of 911 dispatchers and first responders, and how to seek help during an emergency.

  • Basic First Aid Awareness: Learn the importance of helping an injured person safely, including understanding when to get an adult or emergency medical assistance.
